Why FilesPro

File Explorer is fine for opening a file. FilesPro is for the days you move thousands.

It keeps a journal of every operation, puts two folders side by side, shows you what a batch rename will do before it runs, and stays quick in folders with tens of thousands of files.

Work side by side

Two panes. Tabs everywhere. One key to copy across.

Open folders side by side, press F5 to copy to the other pane, and keep working while the queue does the rest.

  • Pin, color, resize and reorder tabs, or move one to the other pane
  • Compare panes to see what's new, newer or different, then copy the differences either way
  • Workspaces save your tabs and layout; your last session reopens when you start
  • Jump to frequent folders with Ctrl J
Find anything, fast

Search as you type. Answers in milliseconds.

A local filename index finds files across a folder, a drive or everywhere, ranked by relevance. Words, fuzzy matching, wildcards or regular expressions.

  • Live filter for the folder you're in: ext:pdf size:>5mb date:<7d type:image
  • Leave out the folders you never want in results
  • Save filters and searches and get back to them in one click
Copy, move and delete without worry

A queue you can pause. A journal that remembers.

Run several jobs at once, pause, resume, run one next or cancel it. If the power goes out mid-copy, FilesPro picks up where it stopped.

  • Optional BLAKE3 or SHA-256 check after each copy, marked "Verified" when it passes
  • Files are written under a temporary name and renamed only when complete, so a crash never leaves a half-written file
  • A file you replace goes to the Recycle Bin first, so undo can bring it back
  • Long paths, timestamps, attributes and alternate streams kept intact
  • New: sync two folders (mirror, two-way or update-only), checked before anything runs
CtrlZMade a mistake? Undo copies, moves, renames, deletes and batch renames, many steps deep, even after a restart.
See files before you open them

Press Space. See it instantly.

Quick Look shows images, video, audio, PDF pages, Markdown, text and Office documents without opening another app. The preview pane adds photo and music details, version info and checksums.

  • Six views: details, compact, list, tiles, icons and thumbnails, remembered per folder, plus a flat view of everything under a folder
  • Group by type, date or size, with groups you can collapse
  • Folder sizes, Git status badges with the current branch, and cloud file state without downloading
New · Open files right here

A viewer tab, a terminal dock and music, without leaving your files.

Ctrl+double-click a file to open it in a tab: edit code with find and replace, read PDFs with selectable, searchable text, and play audio and video. Terminals sit in a dock under the panes and split into tiles.

  • Text and code, PDF, Word, Markdown, CSV tables, SVG, HEIC and AVIF, and a hex view
  • Split the terminal right or down, zoom one tile, keep several open
  • Play a folder of music in a player that tucks into the corner as a round button
Power tools, built in

Batch rename with a live preview, undone in one step.

Tokens for dates, counters, photo EXIF and music ID3 tags, regular expressions and case changes. See every new name before anything changes.

  • Browse zip, 7z and tar archives like folders; create zip and 7z with AES-256 encryption
  • Terminals with PowerShell or Command Prompt that follow the folder you're in, split into tiles
  • Open any folder in Windows Terminal, PowerShell, WSL, VS Code or Zed, or add your own tools
  • The full Windows context menu is always one Shift + right-click away

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does FilesPro replace File Explorer?

No. FilesPro is a separate app that runs alongside File Explorer, so nothing in Windows changes. Use FilesPro for the heavy jobs (moving, comparing, renaming) and keep using File Explorer wherever you like.

Which versions of Windows does it run on?

Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later, and Windows 11, on x64 PCs. Nothing else needs installing.

Can I really undo a copy or delete after restarting?

Yes. FilesPro keeps a journal of every operation, so copies, moves, renames, deletes and batch renames can be undone with Ctrl+Z, many steps deep, even after you close and reopen the app. A file you replace goes to the Recycle Bin first, so undo can bring it back.

What happens if my PC crashes in the middle of a copy?

Files are written under a temporary name and renamed only when complete, so a crash never leaves a half-written file behind. When FilesPro starts again, interrupted jobs continue where they stopped and half-finished files are cleaned up.

Does search need administrator rights?

No. Search works out of the box from a local filename index. Optionally, you can turn on instant search on all drives; that installs a small local service after an administrator prompt.

Can I keep my Total Commander or Vim shortcuts?

Yes. Start from the File Explorer, Total Commander or Vim key preset, change any shortcut in the key editor, and export your keymap to take it to another PC.

Does FilesPro collect any data?

No. There's no account, no ads, no analytics and no telemetry. FilesPro only connects where you ask it to, such as an SFTP server or a network share you open. Settings, history and the search index stay on your PC.

Which languages is it available in?

English, German, Spanish and French. FilesPro follows your Windows language, or you can pick one in Settings.

Private by design

Your files are your business.

FilesPro doesn't collect or send any data, and only connects where you ask it to (an SFTP server or a network share you open). Settings, history and the search index stay on your PC, and the index holds file names only.

If FilesPro ever closes unexpectedly, it offers a crash report that you can read, edit and choose to send yourself. Read the privacy policy.
